Batam! 11 - 13 June.

Our long weekend passed by so damn fast! Suddenly it's Tuesday and we are back in the office!

Batam was fun. It was Hyder's first trip with my extended family, as in cousins and aunts and such, and oh that boy had so much fun! Especially with Ilhan!

Ilhan was Hyder's shadow when we were there - Hyder jumped, Ilhan jumped. Hyder sat, Ilhan sat. Hyder rubbed his eyes, Ilhan did the same. He even said whatever Hyder said! Haha, so irritating tau.

They also entertained each other while we watched one of the World Cup matches at the lobby on Saturday night.

Here's them looking at the menu, "discussing" what to eat probably. Haha.

People, I might possibly be like 5kg fatter than before I went to Batam, because I ate so much when I was there. I've never eaten J.co donuts before in my whole life, and after tasting one when I was there, hohmygawd aren't they yummeh! Especially coco loco (chocolate in AND OUT of the donut!) and the one with the chocolate caviar on top! And also the simple glazed one! SEDAPNYA!

Oh and also pop mie goreng! As in the indomee mee goreng in a cup thing. SEDAP! And I knew Husband likes that too, because I made it for us in the hotel room, and he kept it to himself, and I only got 2 forkfuls.

We bought 10 more cups to bring home, and also a carton of the normal pop mie perisa ayam!

And best of all, I had my nasi padang!

Ok, excuse the freaky face and smudged eyeliner. I was probably trying to scare Hyder with my eyes, to get him to sit down and eat. Hehehe.

I lovelovelove nasi padang like this. Where they lay out all the tiny plates with FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD, all yummeh and lovely.

Ok, not all are yummeh lah. There was this huge sotong which didn't look like sotong, and also some other stuff, but who cares - somehow ayam goreng and udang belado don't taste that nice when it's not served this way.

The best meal of the trip was at Batam Kuring. Udang pete! (that's petai, not pete as in some mat salleh) Sambal bakar kicap! Daging gepuk! Ayam belado! Ikan bakar! Sotong bakar!

Super salivate moment now while I reminisce.

Ok, let's stop talking about food. Moving on. We stayed at Pacific Plaza Hotel, which was ok-ish. Not my choice of hotel if I had any say, because I prefer more resorty places (Ocen Outrigger Bali, I'm missing you) But Pacific Plaza was ok lah.

It was near to the malls and eating places. I had the best pempek at Nagoya Hill - everyone should go there. I thought the pempek at Resto Surabaya was good, but it's crap when compared to Nagoya Hill! And it's only 3000 rupiah per piece!

Suddenly this whole trip seems to be filled with food experiences only. Hahaha.

To sum it up, the whole trip was really fun. It's been so long since I went on a trip with my aunts and cousins. Having those 2 boys were crazy funny! If only Ammar was there also, I think it will be a riot. Hahah.

Let's start planning the next getaway! Hehehe.
