Hyder and arabic alphabets.

Whenever Husband teaches Hyder the arabic alphabets, I usually just sit in one corner and read other books, while listening. I don't really have the patience to sit and teach the same thing over and over again, I think, but I do listen because seriously, Hyder comes up with the cutest stuff sometimes.

We bought for him flashcards, with the alphabets on one side, and pictures of things on the other side. So the accompanying thing for alif is ibil, camel. And there's a picture of a camel on the flashcard too.

So we got to haa. Picture was of a telephone.

At that time, Husband went to switch on the radio to hear azan. So Hyder asked me instead, "Mummy, ini apa?" So I said, "Haasif. Haasif means telephone."

He looked surprised, and said, "Unkle Asif (my sister's bf) is a telephone???"

Hahaha. I had to explain over and over again, but he couldn't stop giggling after that.

Another example.

At that time Husband went out of the room also, so he asked me. He already recognises Alif, and Tsah. He held up "Taa" and asked me what is it. I asked him to think, but he sheepishly said he doesn't know. So I said "kalau Baa, dot dia kat bawah. Ni dot dia kat atas... so what is it?"

He inverted the flashcard and said, "see? Dot dah kat bawah... so ni Ba!" Hahah, that's my genius!

Another one. He help up the flashcard for the alphabet Daad. He asked what is it. Since Husband hasn't reached Daad yet, I told him straight, this is Daad.

He went "Ya, ni (pointing to the dot on top of the alphabet) dot. Tapi ini (the bottom part, the one that looks like saad) apa?"

I said again, ni Daad!

He looked at me like I was stupid or something, and repeated, yes I know ni dot! Tapi ini apa??? Pointing to the bottom part.

I couldn't help but laugh after that, it was so weird and I didn't know how to explain at all, and he was getting frustrated. Hahaha. So I told him "no, ni semua nama dia Daad ok?"

He shook his head and said, "tapi bawah dia bukan dot ok!!" , put the flashcard on the shelf, and walked off.

Hahaha. Stuff to tell him when he's much older :)
