I was watching BBC Knowledge 2 nights ago, while feeding Sufia milk, and this show "Toughest Place to be a Binman" was on.

After Sufia had fallen asleep, I usually attend to Hyder or do kitchen stuff, but on that night I continued watching, and when the show ended, I was almost in tears.  I often complain about the state of living in SG, about how there's almost no work-life balance, the kids are so stressed at school, and such ...

.. But there's this whole group of people who are struggling to live, just to get money for their next meal and such, and living at landfill areas, and their kids don't go to school, so their future is there too, at the landfill, scavenging.  I was so so SO sad, and like Wilbur, I was angry too.  But it was such pathetic anger, I felt like there isn't much I can do to help them.

And then I felt bad about Wiwi, the current maid who we are sending back once the new maid's paperwork is settled.  Here she is, trying to earn money so that her daughter can have a better life... But we almost wanted to send her back to her kampong.  (But then, not without reason.  She might be trying to earn a living and provide for her daughter, but she also has to be honest.  That's the most irritating thing lah, here we are kesiankan dia nak cari makan, but there she is, not thinking about all this... sigh)

She will be sent back to her agency anyway, I hope she will work well and honestly with her next employer.

The new one will be staying with us and I am honestly not looking forward to it that at all.  I told the husband that we will have no more privacy, no more pushing all furniture to the side and lie down in front of the TV in shorts and eating like a pig while lying down, HAAHA.

Makes you wonder if we really do eat like pigs in our shorts right.  Heh heh.
